Several Zoom Player personal editions are offered by the developer: Zoom Player Free, Zoom Player Pro, and Zoom Player MAX. The last one, Zoom Player MAX, has the most features to offer. It is the most powerful and the most versatile media player in the lineup.

All Windows editions, including Windows 7 and Windows 8, are supported. A setup wizard will help you install Zoom Player MAX on a Windows-powered PC. Said wizard will ask you to choose between a Standard and a Legacy installation. The wizard will also ask you to select the components that will be installed: Zoom Player core files, Zoom Player folder in Programs, Zoom Player desktop shortcut, streaming radio station database, run the Install Center, use in Explorer right click menu, associate with media formats.

Before the installation process completes, you will be invited to install missing codecs and additional language packs. This happens because the aforementioned Install Center quickly scans your system for missing or outdated media components and invites you to install recommended updates.

The interface is just what you would expect from a media player – a dark-themed, good looking, easy to use interface that all users, including novices, will quickly figure out. The trial version of Zoom Player MAX does not allow you to access the interface right away. While using the trial version (30-day trial), you will have to wait 3 seconds and then press a certain button to access Zoom Player MAX and its interface. When you’re in, you can customize the interface from the Options menu and by using the Skin Selector.

You can use Zoom Player MAX to play videos, audio files, interactive formats, and images. Lots of video formats are supported: XVID, AVI, FLV, 3GP, and more. Lots of audio formats are supported: AAC, WMA, OGG, WAV, and more. Lots of interactive formats are supported: DVD, HTML, SWF. And lots of image formats are supported: JPEG, PNG, BMP, EPS, PSD, and more.

As mentioned at the start, Zoom Player MAX has the most features to offer. Here’s a look at those features: play any media you want; media scheduler with remote TCP/IP network based programming support; subtitle support; create and manage playlists; automatically run external programs when running or when closing the player; equalizer; audio balance; play rate control; adjust the brightness, saturation, and contrast; hotkeys are supported; resume from last media position; play files locked by 3rd party programs; SHOUTcast radio streaming; and many, many more.

Zoom Player MAX is just a properly, properly good media player. The ease of use is impressive and the long list of features is impressive as well.

Pros

All Windows editions are supported. You can pick one of two installation options: Standard or Legacy installation. You can select the components that will be installed. Install Center quickly scans your system for missing or outdated media components and invites you to install recommended updates. The interface is user friendly, good looking, and customizable. Lots of video, audio, interactive, and image formats are supported. There are lots of settings to play with. Zoom Player MAX has a very long list of features.

Cons

Trial limitations: 30-day trial, nag screen.
